The Academy sponsors two week-long Arts Discovery Camps each summer for rising 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students. Children are selected with the assistance of school personnel and members of sponsoring churches. Students who show great interest and potential may be selected for a full scholarship for continued study at the Arts Academy.
The camp is supported with financial resources and volunteers from local churches, agencies, civic and charitable organizations. The faculty is composed of professional teachers and artists. The classes are small so that each student receives personal attention and instruction. Many local community volunteers serve as teacher assistants as well as provide and serve meals to the children.
The children leave the camp with greater self-confidence, pride in their accomplishments, and with a knowledge and appreciation of the ways that the arts can nourish their lives.
